S.O.S. FOR THE POLITICAL PRISONNERS IN CONGO



 PRESS RELEASE

The UDPS informs the opinion that members of the UDPS whose names follow, have been arrested and are held until now by the Kabila regime, in Congo, because of their political opinions against the dictatorship :

    

  1.  Joseph Kapika, spokesperson of the UDPS, arrested in Kinshasa since 31 January 1999


  2.  Mbala, arrested in Kinshasa on 31 January 1999


  3.  Alidor Muamba, arrested in Kinshasa on 12 May 1999 


  4.  Raymond Kabala, arrested in Kinshasa on 12 May 1999


  5.  Kabamba Kadima, arrested in Mbujimayi in July 1999 and sentenced by the military Court to the capital punishment 


  6.  Bukasa Musanga, arrested on 19 October 1999 in Kinshasa and sentenced by the ilitary court to the capital punishment 


  7.  Tshivuadi, arrested in Lubumbashi on 31 July 1999, jailed at the ANR of Kinshasa


  8.  Kabu Kalala, arrested to Lubumbashi it 31 July 1999, jailed at the ANR of Kinshasa


  9.  Prof. Kambaji wa Kambaji, arrested it 31 July 1999 to Lubumabshi, jailed at the ANR of Kinshasa


  10.  Kabalu Kadima, arrested on 31 July 1999 to Lubumbashi and sentenced to death, on the run outside of Congo




Mr. Alidor Muamba is a chronic invalid. His health does not cease to deteriorate in prison. 



The UDPS asks to the international Community to use all means of right so as 
to exert constraining pressures on Kabila in order to help these persons recover their liberty.
